Julianne’s Monday Meeting: Shock

Hello, my name is Julianne and I’m a Zombieholic.

(There’s a pause as the rest of the Zombieholics chant “Welcome Julianne.”)

Did anyone else watch the fall finale of The Walking Dead? Oh and beware there are spoilers below so if you haven’t watched it, and you continue reading, it’s at your own peril

There’s a part of me that knew someone was likely going to die and having got almost to the end of the hour without the death of a character, I began to wonder if it was going to happen.

And then they went there.

If you watched it, did it shock you as much as it did me?

Are you sad that Beth is now gone? While she wasn’t my favourite character, I’m very sad to see her go. And just when she was coming into her own as a strong individual who was willing to do what had to be done to ensure her survival.

Wednesday Meeting: What’s Your Plan?

Hello, my name is Julianne and I’m a Zombieholic.

(There’s a pause as the rest of the Zombieholics chant “Welcome Julianne.”)

So lately I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what I would do if the dead were actually to rise. I mean I love the genre but I’m not entirely sure that I would want to actually live to see the Zombie Apocalypse…

So my plan involves getting as far away from civilization and holing up until I have to move again.

So what’s your plan? Maybe we can be Zombie Apocalypse besties??

Hello, my name is Julianne and I’m a Zombieholic.

(There’s a pause as the rest of the Zombieholics chant “Welcome Julianne.”)

It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a meeting. Don’t get me wrong, my addiction is still strong, and I feed it every chance I get. But I do admit that life sometimes gets in the way of getting here. But that’s all going to change – I need you and you all need me. It’s all about community and that’s the only way we’ll be able to get through this – together.

I’ve watched many new movies and even read a few books and stories that have kept the hunger at bay. But the major event that occurred this past week was the premiere of the fifth season of The Walking Dead on AMC. Who else watched it? What did you think?

I had to say it was the strongest season premiere in recent years and I was riveted as I watched it. Part of it was down to the fact I was getting my fix, pure and simple, but the rest of it was because the story itself really started to take off. And it was brutal – just the way you expect the end of the world to turn out!

I had a few favourite scenes, but I will admit that the one at the very end made me absolutely giddy!! I’m not going to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t watched it, but holy hell!!

Be Back Soon!

Hello Zombieholics! Due to an unforeseen injury (not a bite, promise!) I will be taking a break from posts. But I will be back soon!

Zombieholics Anonymous: New Release!

Glimpses of the Undead
Julianne Snow

From the mind of Julianne Snow comes an undead collection of stories that feature the gamut of emotions and situations. Presented in flash fiction and short stories, the tales are sure to leave you wanting more and checking over your shoulder.

How would a group of children handle an uprising of the undead? What would you do to save a loved one only to find out that you’re facing a different threat altogether? How would a country react to a timely warning at the end of a war? What happens when a vampiric Romeo hits on an unsuspecting human? In a world where the undead are common place and protected, what happens when speed dating produces a love match?

Zombieholics Anonymous: Julianne Snow (Coffin Hop on Days with the Undead)

My name is Julianne and I am a Zombieholic…

(Hears the chorus of other Zombieholics in the room chanting “Welcome Julianne”)

This time of year means three things: Halloween, the start of the new season of The Walking Dead and Coffin Hop. What’s the Coffin Hop you ask? Well… it’s a blog hop of horror writers that lasts 8 full days! I have to tell you that I’ve been getting my fix as of late – writing Zombie flash fiction! And you can read it all during the Coffin Hop at Days with the Undead. Heck, you can even win some prizes for stopping by and leaving a comment. Help me spread the sickness around!!

Zombieholics Anonymous: David P. Forsyth

Hell, my name is David, and I’m a Zombieholic.

(Hears the chorus of other Zombieholics in the room chanting “Welcome David”)

As a writer of zombie fiction I have conflicted thoughts about Zombieholism and Zombieholics Anonymous. It is certainly a serious condition that spreads like a virus. Adolescents and young adults are especially vulnerable, but it has been known to spread rampantly across genders, age and ethnic groups too. Grandmothers and retired men are particularly susceptive to recent manifestations of the addiction. Worse yet, there is no known cure. A single exposure is often all it takes to become addicted and I agree that these people need a support group such as Zombieholics Anonymous.

Some of you may consider zombie authors to be little more than pushers who exploit the addiction of zombieholics. Nevertheless, the scientific research shows that without a regular fix of quality zombie fiction, these zombieholics become unstable and even dangerous. I myself have actually faced implied threats from addicts demanding immediate release of the next book in my series. When deprived of good zombie books, many addicts will resort to low quality merchandise or even vampire books. You might think such behavior would cure them, but no, it only fuels their demands for more and better zombie fiction!

Since there is no cure for zombieholism, it is the responsibility of authors and filmmakers to produce enough quality zombie fiction to satisfy the cravings of zombieholics so that they can continue to be happy and productive members of society. The alternative is too terrible to contemplate: hordes of deranged zombieholics taking to the streets, even attacking the writers who abandon them to their own imaginations. So it is with firm conviction that I wholeheartedly endorse the efforts of Zombieholics Anonymous and vow to continue providing treatment (fixes) for those afflicted with this condition.
